The AfricaXchange was a pivotal event designed to catalyze progress in Locally Led Development (LLD). Our aim was simple yet powerful: to bring together local and international funders, implementers, and those who support entire systems, to work together on solutions, share practical tools, and create new partnerships for Locally Led Development (LLD).


This was a timely discussion that elevated the role of localisation for sustainable development financing on the continent. it was crucial for us to bring key stakeholders from the region to form a shared understanding of new funding approaches, agree on the new perspectives of success and impact in order to make a real difference. 

Through a balanced mix of high-level plenaries, thematic breakouts, and immersive experiences, the event moved beyond dialogue. We incorporated interactive and informal spaces, embedded cultural symbolism throughout the event, and put community organizations at the forefront of the discussions. The conversations highlighted the gaps that need to be addressed to meaningfully engage local communities and vulnerable groups in these spaces, and to move towards embracing core African values of community, collective action, culture, and identity in discussions of development.
